Overview
Located 38 km from Vijaynagar, this former princely state is nestled within the protective embrace of the Aravali mountain range, which shielded it from various attacks throughout its history. Beyond the larger temples, you’ll find smaller idols scattered across the hills, each bearing signs of worship. A climb up the hill, winding through rocky paths, offers a unique opportunity to connect with the sacred spaces that have played a significant role in the lives of those who worship here.
Idar also serves as an excellent base for exploring nearby sites such as Himatnagar, the pilgrimage site of Khedbrahma, Shamlaji, and Dev ni Mori—the archaeological site where a Buddhist seminary, stupas, and viharas have been unearthed.
