Ahmedabad was founded by Sultan Ahmad Shah in 1411 A.D. with the blessings of his spiritual adviser Shaikh Ahmad Khattu Ganj Baksha of Sarkhej, at the site of the old town of Ashawal and Karnavati. Ahmedabad flourished for a hundred years, becoming a center for skilled craftsmen and merchants. The city’s ancient monuments are broadly grouped into two main periods: the first half of the 15th century under Ahmad Shah I, and the second half under Mahmud Begada.
After breakfast at the hotel, drive to Dwarka, with a stop in Gondal. Upon arrival, check into the hotel. In the evening, visit Aarti at Dwarkadhish Temple. Overnight stay at the hotel.
Dwarka is one of the four holiest pilgrimage sites and a main center of the Krishna legend. It’s said that Lord Krishna established his capital here after fleeing Mathura. Archaeological excavations reveal that the present-day Dwarka is the sixth city on this site, with the previous five submerged by the sea. The Dwarkadhish Temple (Jagat Mandir), often renovated, features carvings from the 16th century and walls dating from the 12th century. Highlights include the 19th-century shikara tower and the 60-pillared sanctum sanctorum.
After breakfast, visit Dwarkadhish Temple again. Then, take a full-day excursion to Bet Dwarka and Nageshwar Jyotirlinga. Return to Dwarka in the evening, with an optional visit to Aarti at Dwarka Temple. Overnight stay at the hotel.
Bet Dwarka, located 30 km north of Dwarka on an island in the Arabian Sea near Okha, takes 20 minutes by boat to reach. It is believed to be the remains of the original city of Dwarka. Nageshwar Jyotirlinga, situated on the outskirts of Dwarka, is a prominent Shiva shrine representing the removal of evil from Earth.
After breakfast, drive to Somnath via Porbandar. Upon arrival, check into the hotel and have lunch. In the evening, visit Aarti at Somnath Temple. Overnight stay at the hotel.
Porbandar, initially known as “Pauravelakul” and later “Sudamapuri,” is located on the western coast of Saurashtra, where the Asmawati River meets the ocean. It is believed to have been discovered on Raksha Bandhan day. The city features various temples, mosques, and cemeteries, including Satyanarayan Temple, Bhutnath Mahadev Temple, and Jumma Masjid. Somnath, one of the 12 jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva, is mentioned in the Shiva Purana and Nandi Upapurana. The shore temple of Somnath, believed to have been built in four phases, has been repeatedly restored to its original glory despite numerous invasions.
After breakfast, check out from the hotel and transfer to the beach town of Diu. Diu Island is known for its fortress and old Portuguese Cathedral. Upon arrival, check into the hotel.
