Citadel Panchmahal

Overview

About the Location:

The citadel, constructed by Mahmud Begda, features impressive walls extending north and south, punctuated by numerous bastions and gates. Each gate was originally two-storied, with rooms designed for watchkeepers. Today, four of these gates remain well-preserved. Among them, the east and south gates—also known as the Halol and Godhra gates—stand out as particularly noteworthy. These large, rectangular gates are the most remarkable and rewarding to visit, showcasing the grandeur and strategic design of the citadel.
