Overview
Nestled in the neighborhood of the Marine National Park in the Jamnagar district of Gujarat on the western coast, Pirotan Island is one of forty-two islands in the marine park area, covering an area of three square kilometers. Pirotan Island, which is a component of the Gulf of Kutch Marine National Park, the first marine national park created in 1982, provides an unspoiled opportunity to commune with nature. It is one of the two islands in the region that are often open to tourists and other visitors; the other is Narara Island.
There are only a few residents on this charming island, including members of the forest department, Mujhavar at Khwaja Khizer Dargah, and a few personnel from the lighthouse.
