Overview
About the Location:
Located about a 20-minute walk southwest of Hamirsar Lake, the royal cenotaphs emerge from the open fields, offering a serene escape from the city. These cenotaphs, dedicated to those who were cremated rather than buried, stand as memorials rather than final resting places. While many of the monuments have succumbed to the effects of earthquakes and time, the cenotaphs of Lakhpatji, Raydhanji II, and Desarji remain relatively intact. The site is peaceful and isolated, surrounded by open fields and devoid of nearby buildings. It is particularly tranquil during the early morning or late evening, although it can become quite hot in the midday sun.
